Press Release

2025 – The Year in Pictures

The 15 pictures above are a snapshot of the many different works either in the gallery, exhibited at art fairs, or presented in our online exhibitions.  They are a mix of old and new, seen and unseen, and all demonstrate the unique and always surprising quality of photography to express unmistakably individual visions.

The year began tragically with the fires in Los Angeles but thanks to the generosity of our photographers and other AIPAD galleries we quickly put together a benefit auction that raised $40,000 and within a week we had given out 20 assistance checks to people in the arts community who had lost their homes. (The Getty, LACMA, and the Craig Krull Gallery helped us identify people who urgently needed financial support.)

Two examples of the pictures sold are illustrated here. A previously unpublished image by Arne Svenson from his “Neighbors” series, and aptly – a 1968 portrait of Joan Didion in L.A. by Julian Wasser.

In our online exhibitions we showed Fred McDarrah’s photographs of Cecil Beaton’s 1969 visit to Warhol’s Factory, followed by Mario Giacomelli’s transformative landscapes of the Marche region of central Italy. After that we showed a selection of Harold Edgerton’s revolutionary stop motion photographs of athletes and sports action.

At AIPAD 2025 among many other works we were pleased to exhibit two of Pulitzer prize winner Michael Williamson’s 2004 portraits of Sally Mann along with a selection of Robert Frank’s American images not published in “The Americans”.

Over the summer we put up a show of Olivia Bee’s recent work - the former prodigy now a mature artist. We revisited Tod Papageorge’s iconic Central Park series “Passing Through Eden” showing known and unknown images.

In the fall coinciding with the Brooklyn Museum exhibition "Seydou Keïta: A Tactile Lens" we put up our own Keita show.  However, we strongly encourage everyone to visit the museum to see a spectacularly well curated and surprisingly vast show.

Lastly in preparation for our annual participation in the UNTITLED Miami art fair we debuted new works by Giuseppe Lo Schiavo, Petra Cortright, Alana O’Herlihy, Matthew Porter, Liz Nielsen, and Jim Krantz.

To end our year end round-up are two images created right after the fair from Krantz’s new series of double exposures which we look forward to exhibiting in 2026 along with work by the many artists we are proud to represent.

Happy New Year to all.

James Danziger and Doyle Bley.
